Conger Eel

Shipwreck

In the dark realm of shipwrecks, deep caves and narrow crevices, we meet a fascinating and eerie inhabitant of the Baltic Sea – the conger eel.
A voracious predator this fish can grow to over two metres in length and weigh 65 kilograms. At night it goes hunting for fish, squid and larger crustaceans. However, it does not produce offspring in the Baltic Sea. For reproduction, the conger eel migrates to the deep waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean and only at the age of 1-2 years do the young return.
